Chief surveyor - offshore

MARITIME - As Party Chief, you will take a central role in large-scale marine and infrastructure projects where your leadership, technical expertise and decision-making directly impact project outcomes. You will supervise positioning, surveying and quality control operations, coordinate between survey teams and project management, and ensure that works are executed according to specifications, safety standards and timelines. You will be deployed on challenging sites worldwide, often in offshore or nearshore environments, leading a team under dynamic conditions.

What You Will Do

• Lead and manage survey and positioning crews on marine infrastructure projects (dredging, offshore installations, marine civil works)
• Oversee the quality, accuracy and reliability of geospatial and hydrographic data collected on site
• Coordinate the setup and calibration of survey instruments (RTK, GNSS, total stations, multibeam, etc.)
• Prepare and validate survey plans, tolerances and methodology for each project phase
• Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers and operations teams to integrate survey results into construction workflows
• Ensure safe practices, procedures and equipment use in all on-site operations
• Provide guidance, training and mentorship to junior survey staff
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and adapt survey strategies in real time under variable marine conditions

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying or a related technical discipline
• Solid experience in hydrographic or marine survey operations (min. 8 years)
• Proficiency with survey software and instruments (QINSy, Terrasolid, BathyData, multibeam, GNSS, total stations, etc.)
• Strong leadership and communication skills: ability to manage crews, liaise with stakeholders, and make decisions under pressure
• Willingness to travel and be deployed offshore or abroad under rotational schedules
• Strong analytical mindset and precision orientation
• Proficient in English (additional languages are a plus)
• EU passport (contractual requirement)
