Category Manager Marine Equipment

In this role, you will take full ownership of the global procurement strategy for Marine Equipment. This means managing the essential machinery, equipment, and technical tools that power complex marine, offshore, and infrastructure projects around the world.

As Category Manager you translate complex project requirements into cost-efficient, high-quality, and sustainable procurement strategies that directly support global operations.

Your Responsibilities

• Category Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies for auxiliary equipment that optimize total cost of ownership, elevate service quality, and advance sustainability objectives.

• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Direct, guide, and empower a team of four Jr. Category Buyers and ten Operational Buyers. Manage team performance via targeted KPIs, ensure agreed service levels, and foster professional development.

• Strategic Sourcing & High-Value Deals: Take direct ownership of high-value spot buys, critical equipment acquisitions, and long-term framework agreements, leading complex commercial negotiations.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with global project teams, vessel management, and internal stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions and align procurement with operational needs.

• Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Conduct continuous market research (tracking technological advancements and supplier capabilities) and build strategic, long-term partnerships with key global suppliers.

• Governance & Innovation: Ensure compliance with corporate sourcing procedures and contract management, while continuously identifying opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and innovation.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Applied Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic purchasing, category management, or supply chain management. Experience in the maritime, offshore, or civil infrastructure sector is a strong asset.

• Proven track record in coaching, leading, and developing a team of procurement professionals.

• Strong commercial instinct and negotiation skills with extensive experience managing high-value contracts.

• A strategic mindset paired with a hands-on approach. Ability to drive change and thrive in a dynamic, international environment.

• Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
